The Ultimate Direct Feeder allows the beekeeper to feed the colony internally during the spring, summer, and fall months. This in-hive top feeder holds 1 gallon of syrup or water and allows you to feed your bees without disrupting the hive. It includes and easy grip handle and easy access for the bees to continually feed. Simply fill the feeder, place it over the hole of the inner cover, add an empty medium box, then replace your hive cover. It is made with a large footprint to improve stability inside your hive. It includes riser feet, but their use is optional. Molded ventilation ribs on the feeder allows for airflow into the hive.
Works in 8 or 10 frame hives. Made in USA!
Do not feed syrup when it is too cold for bees to fly. During cold months feed DRB's Winter Feed Boards (item #621-WFB or 621-WFB8) or UltraBee (item #621).
Recommended syrup mixtures: for spring and summer feedings mix 1:1 or one pound sugar to one pound water (2 cups water); for fall feeding mix 2:1 or two pounds sugar to one pound water (2 cups water). Using hot water helps with mixing, but do not use boiling water.
